The Blue Lotus is the premier photography art gallery in Hong Kong. Works from Fan Ho, Michael Wolf, and other legendary artists graces the walls of this small shop in the super cool Soho section of town. Last fall, I attended an opening for a show featuring two amazing artists. Alexis Ip’s layered 3-D images literally *POP* off the wall. Alexis’s street photography is on another level or maybe I should say levels.
Stephan Irvine takes a different approach to Hong Kong’s photogenic landscape. Architectural images stretched to accentuate the enormity of distinctive block-long and colourful buildings take shape under Stephan’s careful eye. There is some photo-manipulation done here, clearly, but it’s very subtle and extraordinarily tasteful.
You ought to really see these for yourself. I’ll let the images do the talking instead of me.
The light is always right.
