Cathay Camera Club is the premier camera club in Hong Kong with roots back to the early 1980s. A mature and diverse group of amateur, hobbyist, and professional photographers participate in monthly themed contests and talk about all things photography, of course. I recently attended the People of Hong Kong Exhibit showing where each participating member included a themed image and open image. The pictures were printed and mounted on foam board on various sizes from about A4 to A3, and even A1.

It was a terrific and inspiring body of work. I’ve done some judging and workshops for the club in the past. Those experiences were the subject of previous blogs. Next week I will participate in my first contest as a proper member of the club. There are two images that can submitted in the “themed” group and two in the open group. The theme of this month’s entries is double exposure. I’m still working on my submissions but I’ll share those in future blog posts.

Are there camera clubs in your neighbourhood? Why not join? It’s nice opportunity to meet like-like-minded individuals, share you work, and receive critique all at the same time. These are the ingredients for personal growth as an artist. Try it!

The light is always right.
